Name: How you recognize male scammers.
Other Comments: I am Miss Marple and a contributor at this site, I have met many victims here at this site and I wanted to create an thread for those who are interested to find out how you recognize African male scammers. I met an scammer while ago, and he came from Nigeria and he tried to scam me, that’s why I created this thread so you can save some time and hopefully your Money by reading this general information I have written here.
I have made studies of African scammers in general and collected some stuff. I will represent here some basic information and some good advices what you can think about when you are out on the dating sites and online, which are the best ways to avoid scammers and learn how to spot them.
Are you an woman and have met the most wonderful, good looking and to good to be true man on the internet? He is also very smart, well educated, working probably as an constructor or engineer and travels a lot in his job, He tells you that he is an widower and has raised his child all alone, and he is now looking for true love. He falls in love very quickly and wants to marry you and wants to meet you soon. Suddenly he must travel to Africa. To Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory coast or another west African country for work and he will come back soon to meet you soon as possible. During his visit he gets in lot of trouble, he gets sick or have accidents. And he suddenly needs money, his credit card is not good enough or he’s has trouble to get his money from his account. Then he begins to ask for money.
Is this something you recognize?? You have probably met an scammer from Africa. Nigeria, Ghana and Ivory coast, Senegal and Dakar is the most common countries where scammers comes from, but they do operate with accomplices from European countries also as Germany, Holland and United Kingdom. Malaysia and China has also reported more scammers activities the latest time.
There is lot of different scams, Lottery scams, Charity scams, credit card scams and spams (Variation from the 419 scam)and other different types of scams, But this is page is only about ROMANCE SCAMMERS or DATING SCAMMERS
1.Scammers use templates before they starts to ask for money and there is variations in time in that also before they do that from 2 weeks until 2-3 years. Scammers use templates because they scam many people at the same time and have no time to write personal mails.
2.Look for the language, scammers has often very bad grammar and their skills in European language is bad, the templates are often translated by GOOGLE
3.They fell in love very quickly and talk about endless and undying LOVE
4.Avoiding your questions in the mails (typical for scammers who use templates) but variations do exist in this also.
5. Asking money from strangers is a scam, African, Russian, man, woman makes NO DIFFERENCE! http://ladies-russia.net/Scam.php 6.The scammer tells you to end your dating site account because you are the only true love for him (this is the way he can control the victim)
7.Scammers uses an +44 as an UK number to confuse victims with that they are in UK but they are in fact in Nigeria . ID Spoofing
8.If it sounds to good to be true it is often that also.
What can you do to protect yourself?
You must protect yourself even if it is not an scammer you are talking to. Never give out any personal information to somebody that you don’t know such your home address, telephone numbers no bank account/credit card numbers or other sensitive information as log in to your email addys or other accounts .Scammers asks for telephone numbers so they can convince people with their undying love as they asks for money, so don’t give out any phone numbers to foreigners. As scammers are criminal in the cyber world their knowledge in computers are very good .Get yourself an good Antivirus program to protect you from malware and spams, never click on links that unknown people sends you in mails, there could be an trojan waiting for you. As trojan is an malware and is created to steal and copy information from other computers.
How do scammers work out and how do you recognize them??
Maybe you are talking for the moment with an scammer but nothing is not what it appears to be as the wonderful man you talking to is an criminal sitting in a internet cafe and knows exactly what he is doing ,because he has done this so many times before that you can’t even imagine that your lovely man is only an criminal and wants to have your money, they are trained to be psychological and knows exactly what to talk and uses your weaknesses to get you into the trap. They send you gifts and talks poetry to you to get you really fall in love. And when you are enough in love then they starts to ask for money. They suddenly gets in to trouble and get into accidents and make up fake stories and involves other scammers also pretending to be doctors and lawyers or barristers that the story sound so real as possible, so that the victim feels empathy and open up the wallet to the scammer. They ask money for anything, from food to hospital bills, they can even send you fake documents that you have to sign your personal information that you suddenly can get involved in the crimes to without any knowledge of what you have really got involved into. As scammers are criminals they are involved in money laundry and drugs. They use most Western union to transfers to receive money from victims, but money gram is also more common now. Scammers uses stolen identities from other victims from another earlier scams or stolen from internet also. So the names they use to collect your money in are not their own names. So catch theses scammers are very difficult because of this.
The grammar is very bad as their skills are not good in English so they use templates translated by some translator and many time the scammers uses GOOGLE to translate their letters, so look for the language in the letters you receive from the scammers. Scammers uses much religion also in their scams they talk many times that they are GOD fearing and pretend to be very religious. http://www.delphifaq.com/faq/male_scammers/f3269.shtml?p=11#comments often the scammers has children and they are widowers also, because in this way they can affect the victims in a emotionally way to the single mothers, everybody can be scammed but they often seek for single women with kids and in the age of 40, as people has generally made carrier and has an stabile economic situation as that attract scammers of course.
What can you do if you suspect you talking to an scammer?
If you suspect that the person you are talking to on the internet is an scammer, there is sites where you can seek for photographs, as I have put an link in the beginning of this information, but there is others you can do also, if you have contact with an scammer through email, you can look up the IP address, that the person uses and see if the person uses forged IP or has been reported to an scammer site. If the IP address is forged it is absolutely an scam, no real and honest person uses forged IP address, and if they begin to start talking about Africa that they are travelling to Nigeria or Ghana for business or work it is an scam also. Even if they have not asked for money yet it can be an scammers as well, as they can wait with that question a long time. Look for information on the internet what your love is doing and report scammers to sites because only by reporting scammers you reduce the scammers to operate and scam other people. Talk to other people about scamming and inform your friends who you also are talking to on the internet. If you have been scammed you must of course report this crime to the nearest authorities in your hometown and country. And here I have some links where you can find also information what you can do if you have been scammed, but I must put out an warning if you want to report scammers to authorities in Africa be careful who you are talking to, and also find out if it is real people you have contact with, as scammers abuses also this and goes under fake persons and scams people by saying the helping scammed people, there is a lot of fake detectives, so be careful who you are talking to and who you leave your personal information to.
I get many questions and wonderings from people that have met or suspecting to be in contact with an scammer online.I have collected some questions that appears to be the most frequent ones ,and some advices when you are dealing with an scammer online.
1.He has not asked for money can it still be an scammer?
-Yes absolutley ! Scammers can be very different in the behaviours when it comes to ask for money ,the most common is 4-6 weeks, but upto many months ,and in some rare cases as years.
2.What do scammers ask money for?
-For everything, bills, airline tickets, hospital bills, hotel bills, reasons can be such as:,they have got robbed, soemone has stolen theire creditcard, they have been in accidents, scammers pretends to have children and asks for money to them .scammers can also ask for to send them computers, cellphones whatever they need for theire scam operations.
3.I have been threaten by an scammer and i am scared.Should i be worried that he comes to my house? Sould i be scared?
- Scammers threats people offen when they do not get money from the victims and wants to control the victim by threats. Many times victims pays the scammer as the threats gives result. It is an way to scare people with and offen harmless ,but for the victim this can be an very unpleasent experience of course.Online scammers comes from West-Africa mostly Nigeria or Ghana so the chance that they show up behind your door is basically zero, scammers has no time and money to travel to people and show up behind theire doors .
4.My scammer seems to be so different from the first mail ,it feels like i had talked to more than 1 person
-Scammers operates offen from gangs and works together in the scam on the victim, there are offen divided in a hierarchy a system of persons or ranked one above another. There are lower and higher ranked scammers in the gang. The lower ones collect victims online on the datingsites and the higher ones asks for the money,so the feeling that you might have talked to different persons can be justified.
5.The scammer do not stop taking contact with me even if i have told him to leave me alone.
- Scammers can be very persistent and manipulative to people and do not offen give up in the first place, the first thing you can do to simply ignore and not to reply any mails, becuase when you reply to an scammer he thinks he can continue to scam you.If this do not give any result simply change emailaddress and phone number.Scammers gives up offenwhen they notice there are nothing to get and moves on to the next victim as time is money for them.
6.I get spams in my mail suddenly from strangers and i have not given out my emailaddress more than my scammer.
- Scammers steels and sells emailaddresses to other scammers also,so changing emailaddress after you have met an scammer can be an good thing.
7.The person calls me from an landline in Usa,how can that be possible if the scammer is in Nigeria or Ghana.
-Scammers uses phone spoofing and can pick up any wished phone number and in the same time hide his own destination.Magic Jack is used by scammers now.
8.The person showed him self up on the webcam and it was the same man as on the photo i recieved.
-Scammers do regulary not show up on webcams because they do not want to be discovered of course, but scammers shows sometimes short sequinces taken from photos and people believes in this sometimes.
9.The person i have met online he says he is from Germany ,but he had an strange accent in his english
- The strong accent you have heard is probably pidgin english an dialectal english that West-Africans talks.

I believe SmilingJohnny is a scammer. Johnny_Rodney@yahoo.com. Fits the template and disappeared when I asked questions about the inconsistencies. Was on a dating site and tactics moved just as described.
The lonely heart scam: Mother sent £80,000 to a man she thought was a charming U.S. soldier... but she'd been conned by Nigerian fraudsters
Divorced and lonely, Kate Roberts thought her luck had changed when a charming U.S. soldier started chatting to her on a dating website.
When he told he loved her, she thought it was almost too good to be true. And sadly, it was.
The ‘soldier’ was in fact a member of a sophisticated Nigerian gang set up to exploit vulnerable women and convince them to hand over money.
Miss Roberts gave £80,000 to the gang after taking out credit cards, loans and borrowing from family and friends. She has now had to sell her house to pay off the crippling debts.
The 47-year-old yesterday warned others to be on their guard saying: ‘I was well and truly taken in and I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did.’
The mother-of-three was first approached when she set up a profile on the Friends Reunited Dating website in October 2009.
She started exchanging emails with a man calling himself Sergeant Ray Smith and chatting to him several times a day on MSN messenger.
He soon persuaded her to send him £225 for a phone line and a man with an American accent calling himself Mark began ringing her almost every day.
He claimed he was a 43-year-old widower with an 11-year-old daughter and was a U.S. soldier serving in Iraq.
She made regular payments of thousands via Western Union and even paid cash directly into what she believed was his bank account as he told her he had no money.
He asked for at least £20,000 from her to buy official military ‘leave passes’. He claimed he was unable to take leave and could only get it by using fake documents he needed to pay for. On several occasions, a man claiming to be the soldier’s commander rang her to reassure her he was about to fly to Britain.
But she discovered it was a scam when she arranged for £12,000 to be sent to one of his friends to pay for his airfare to Britain and he suddenly stopped contacting her.
She said: ‘One day he just stopped emailing me and didn’t call me.
Ojas, Thanks, yes you are very corrcet in this, found an article about this ...
First, if you get an email from someone claiming to be in the military and using a military email address, reply to the email but don’t send it. When you click reply, look in the address bar and confirm that the email is even going a military email address. 9 times out of 10, you’ll see a completely different email in the To: box. I do that with my ASP email. If the email address is anything other than the .mil email address, it’s a scam!
If the email address still is a .mil email, go ahead and send an email, but don’t say anything. Just write “test” or something in the email. If it’s a fake email, you will immediately (or soon) get a return email that what you sent was undeliverable. Again, you need to make sure before you send the email that it’s actually going to a .mil email address. While the scammers can spoof an email coming from a .mil address, they can’t create fake accounts within the .mil domain!
Second, check the email details to find the exact path from which the email came. This is a bit more technical, but not too hard for those using Gmail or Yahoo. Check your particular email provider to find out how to do it with your email. For Gmail, it’s easy. Just follow these simple steps:
1. Open the email.
2. In the upper, right hand corner of the email, you should see a button that says “Reply” and has an arrow next to it.
3. Click that arrow and select “Show original.” This will open another page that shows the backend of the email, including email path.
3a. For Yahoo, Click the arrow next to the “Actions” button at the top of the email, then click “View Full Header”
4. Scroll through the first few lines. If you see anything besides a .mil there, it’s a spoof.

It is to the point I hate all men that are on the internet.. You cant tell who is real and who is not.. None of them can be trusted.. If you cant see them face to face.. FORGET IT..!!.. It's not worth the headache or the heartache..
Internet have become an hughe business for scammers that wants to take advantage on both women and men that wants only to find someone for friendship or marriage. It is not only women that gets scammed believe me !!,if you go the female section on this site ,it is even terrible how many poor men that gets scammed by African and Russian scammers.Today everyone has to be on the guard who you are talking to online even on Facebook where you suppose to stay in contact with your friends ,but scammers are also there with theire fake profiles and abuses people in every way.
I was my self once on the dating sites and met an scammer an african scammer that pretended to be an englishman living in Sweden ,where i originally come from ,i thought he lived in Sweden, but after an while i started to have my doubts on him ...strange things happened :He asked for money!! I thought what is this man,he is an hard working man and needed money from me!! The amounts he asked for was so much money that i could not possibly give him ,then he asked again and again and in the end it was money to an quarter pound of an hamburger!!!! He starved...OMG !! I felt so bad ...i believed that he really was starving ....but suddenly i realized this is not right..i started to make researches online and ended up on this site...i realized i was scammed...!!! i did not send any money ,but in my heart i was scammed by an Nigerian that scams women and men for his living !!
So here i am almost 3 years after ....i have met so many victims that have been scammed , scammed out of money or not ,these scammers steels peoples hearts, ruin peoples lives, take peoples hopes away that they ever going to meet anyone to love .The trust is not there anymore. So what can you do when you can not trust anyone anymore??
The scammers do not care what happends to the victims,if they get ruined ,heartbroken or even commit suicide!! Yes you heard right! there are victims that had commit suicide that has lost all hope after lost everything they ever had and owned. This is very heartbreaking to hear such tragic stories.
That is why people must be aware on these sort of scams ,learn to see the signs on a scammer online,i know that some scammers are very hard to detect as they know exactly how to manipulate people and suddenly you are in love and then it can be to late!
Do not hate men ! There are good men and there bad men every where in the world, but i understand how you feel after just met those who abuses people .Take a break from the internet ,from the dating sites or where ever you are online.Heal your self ! Build up your confidence again. It is not you that has done anything wrong. You did not ask for to meet an scammer online, the scammer finds always the victims, they are trained into find the victims with the right outlook ,the right words and that is what we women want to hear! Do not punish your self so hard! You are not alone to have met scammers online!
Actually i do not know anyone who have not! As they are everywhere!!!
Learn to see the signs of an scammer! Do not give out personal information that an scammer can take advantage on.Protect your self! Do researches onwho you are talking with !
I hope you one day find the one who you are looking for!
please stay safe out there !

Background checks sort online lovers from online liars
LOVE is not always a many-splendoured thing and thousands of lovelorn Australians are enlisting private investigators to do background checks on the potential partners they meet online.
Julia Robson, whose company DateScreen specialises in investigating online Romeos, says she receives about 20 calls a day.
Similarly, Lachlan Jarvis, from Lyonswood Investigations and Forensic Group, says investigating cyber love rats now makes up about 10 per cent of the group's investigations business.
The inquiries come from men and women wanting to check that would-be lovers are not married or lying about their wealth or, more seriously, crooks.
''There's a whole list of reasons why people use our service,'' says Ms Robson, who also receives calls from concerned family members. ''But often they just want to find out that everything this person is saying about themselves is true.''
Ms Robson says the checks are not only saving people from a broken heart but, in many cases, thousands of dollars.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission says Australians were scammed of more than $21 million while attempting to find love online last year. The average loss reported to the consumer watchdog was $20,000.
The real cost of online love scams - in which a scammer woos a genuine dating-site user to get them to provide money or personal details - could be much higher, given people are often too embarrassed to report them.
And Ms Robson says it can happen to anyone.
''I had a client last year who was a very smart, professional woman who lost thousands to a man claiming to be a successful businessman who needed money for his business … I see it all the time.''
She applauded the commission's announcement yesterday that it has introduced voluntary guidelines for dating sites to better protect consumers.
The guidelines call on dating sites to display prominent scam warnings on their websites; implement internal procedures to better detect scammers; and introduce effective complaint-handling procedures.
Dr Buzz McCarthy, Melbourne relationship consultant and author of Internet Dating: Men to Avoid, Men to Enjoy, says the best advice for individuals seeking love online is to ''engage your brain as well as your heart''.

It is a shame these people(?) have taken over the internet and ruined it for so many people.. Not everyone does the bar scene or has the opportunity to get out to meet people.. This was a easy way to meet people.. But now it's too risky to go on the dating scenes or social networks. Three forths of the men and women on there are not real.. You think you have met someone of your dreams... then it just falls apart.. Has happened way too many times.. Taking a break from the internety is ok.. but if and when you decide to go back.. they are thicker on there and worse.. Yes.. I have been scammed..He took me for everything I had.. I ended up filing bankruptcy.. and believe me I know how people feel about commiting suicide.. I was there.. It is a feeling of stupidty and degrading.. It has been 2 yrs.. and I am still having to deal with the problems.. and he still tries to get ahold of me for more.. I try to be careful.. but I dont trust anyone anymore... and keep finding the signals.. I have long decided.. I am not a beauty queen or ignorant.. and I'll be damned if I am going to pay some low life to love me.. That part of my life is over..
I know internet is an very good thing when you can not get out to meet people ,but i am very sorry to hear your destiny .I really hope you get on your feet again and find the red thread of life again. You must stop talking to the scammer !!,change emailaddress, phone number do whatever it takes to break the connection to the scammer once and for all! You will never heal or get even the chance to go further in your life if the scammer tries to contact you and tries to scam you even more! Scammers never stop asking for money!! If you once have sended money to these scumbags they will try again and again!! They know how vulnerable people are !! And you have gave him more than enough already!! I know you are hurt badly and even more but for your own sake you must stop this now and do not let him contact you in no way again!! I have met victims that had it like you ,they are totally in the scammers violence ,no defence or even power to cut with scammer that just sucks out the victim more and more! Have you anyone you can talk with?? a friend ??? Anyone that you can share your thoughts with?? If not create an account on this site and contact me please! when you have created an account click on the envelope you find on my comments here and you can send me an message !
